Residency Program
Four Pillars of Transform Residency
Artistic Development
Assisting artists in stewarding their creative talents through different means of artistic growth. This is different for each resident and staff member. The aim is to give artists the time and space to prioritize the creation of their art and the refining of their craft while being in community with other believers in similar pursuits.
Spiritual Development
Providing space to wrestle with the integration of their art and faith so that they may live whole, undivided lives. We seek to ground artists in their identity in Christ and provide a robust biblical and theological education. With this as their foundation they learn to be confident in engaging in conversations about their faith, helping others to grow in their faith, and encouraging others to do the same in an ever-changing cultural landscape.
Civic Compassion Development
Guiding artists to understand their position in society and responsibility as the people of God. We want to see all artists develop a deep seeded attitude of compassion for the weak, and a practice of self-sacrifice for the benefit of the powerless.
Leadership & Entrepreneurial Development
Assisting in the development of applicable business and leadership skills to help artists step into positions of influence where their leadership represents the life of Christ in culture, reflects the values of the Kingdom of God, and equips others to do the same.
The Transform 4-month Artist Residency focuses on the the artistic and spiritual development pillars described above.
The residency provides shared studio space, pairing with a professional mentor, small groups, monthly dinners, and culminates in a group show.
This residency is open to artists who already reside in New York City.
4-Month New York City Residency
The Transform 9-Month Artist Residency (October through June) is a collaboration between Transform and Christos Collective, designed to support emerging artists as they take the next step in their professional journey. By providing two key resources—time and space—the residency allows artists to focus on their creative work while also exploring the intersection of their art and faith.
During the program, the participants will grow in the 4 Pillars of Transform described above. Not only will they sharpen their artistic skills but will also engage with the deeper aspects of their faith, especially their relationship with Jesus Christ. Set in the vibrant Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, Texas, residents will be immersed in a community that nurtures both personal and spiritual growth, encouraging them to live out their faith in their artistic practice.
Oak Cliff is known for its rich history, diverse culture, and dynamic arts scene. It’s a neighborhood where old meets new, with historic homes, trendy coffee shops, and local galleries all coexisting in a creative and welcoming atmosphere. Artists here will find plenty of inspiration in the community’s unique blend of southern charm and modern urban life.
As part of the residency, participants will receive training to develop their own funding and patronage, empowering them to dedicate their time fully to both their artistic and spiritual pursuits. Learning to effectively communicate about their work and build support networks is an essential element of the program, equipping artists with the skills to sustain their careers beyond the residency.
This residency is open to any artist living in the United States.
9-Month Dallas Residency
2-Month California Bay-Area Residency
The Transform 2-Month Artist Residency focuses on Bay-Area artists who desire to work in community and along themes of spirituality and renewal. We are welcoming to artists of all religious and faith journeys.
The residency will take place in the beautiful Space 124** in the heart of the Mission district. Complete with tall ceilings, large windows, generous floor space and light. The space will serve as a studio/ art show location for the month of February for various disciplines of art. With an ethic of hospitality and community at the core of a temporary, shared studio space, we hope to cultivate a cohesive body of multidisciplinary artwork that is presented at a final opening show.
This residency is open to artists who already reside in the California Bay-Area.
